Kyle Konopasek, from CBIZ presented Cyber Security and what we need to do not only to prevent it but to also mitigate it due to the 29.6% probability of having a breach.
Catastrophic Claims Risk Management
We learned from David Ross of Hays Companies about managing the risk of catastrophic claims.
We heard from Daniel Littler of Intrust Bank and Grant Gooding of PROOF about Big Data versus Emotional Data and figuring out the “WHY” behind your data.
Developing Culture (Panel)
We heard from a panel of 4 Financial leaders (Beth Soukup, CFO of JE Dunn, Chris Mounts, CFO of AVI Systems, Alissa Scuessler, VP of Finance at Burns & McDonnell and Tom Burns, CFO of Littler Mendelson P.C.) about developing culture and how we should encourage our staff to build relationships to encourage retention and provide outlets for philanthropy among other things.

Can’t have a day of CPE without the tax session. Attendees heard from Jim Pierzchalski of BKD about state legislative sales tax changes. Duane and Deanna Roth of Roth Companies spoke about how to increase tax deductions and boost retirement.
Testing Your Listening Skills
We played trivia on Kahoot.com in the Paycor session presented by Michael Weiss to test our listening skills. A key take-away, make sure your company is mobile ready in the area of hiring management as 90% of candidates use their mobile phone to job search.
We received socks! LightEdge’s Michael Hannan handed out branded socks with clouds on them as we learned about compliance in the cloud.

Katie Stevens and Tom Fritts of Protiviti spoke about new laws and regs around companies maintaining “personal information”.
Andy Rieger, President & Co-Founder of J. Rieger & Co. closed the day with an inspiring story of resurrecting the family business which included remodeling an old abandoned warehouse to create a place of fun & entertainment, where you can take a slide to get from floor 2 to floor 1!
