Jim Martin

Vice President Administration and Treasurer, Professor in Business

Jim Martin joined FEI KC in 2008 to fill the Academic Relations Chair on the Board. Jim accepted this role because he enjoys working with college students and industry professionals.

Jim is the Snyder Professor in Business at Washburn University. He lives in Topeka with his wife Sandy and lab, Sadie. Sandy is part owner/operator of 4 Girls Garage, vintage furniture and home decor shop in NOTO, Topeka’s art district.

Jim has four children: daughter Megan, a CPA and Senior Manager with Deloitte in Dallas, son James, a CPA and controller at Sifted in KC, son Brad, a CPA with Koch Industries in Wichita, and daughter Ali, an RN with Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. He has three grandchildren, Sawyer, Graham, and Alessandro.

Jim received his BBA from Washburn University and his MPA from the University of Texas. His favorite sports team is Kansas State. Jim enjoys attending classic rock concerts and sporting events. He volunteers with Washburn Catholic Campus Center and other church boards.

When asked why he chose a career in finance Jim said, “I grew up on a farm in Saline County, Kansas and stumbled into finance at a high school career fair.”
